Ethiopia's shining athletes Haile Gebresilassie, Kenenisa Bekele, Sileshi Sihen, Gebre-egzibiher Gebremariam and Ibrahim Jeilan are scheduled to run in Henglo, the Netherlands, towards the end of this month to fulfill their minima for the Beijing Olympics. The athletes will compete in the 10,000m event on May 24.
It is to be recalled that Haile Gebresilassie had said that he would not participate in the marathon race due to air pollution in Beijing. He had said time and again that he may compete in the 10,000m, in which event he won two Olympics gold medals in Atlanta and Sydney. Kenenisa and Sileshi have won gold and silver medals each in Athens some four years ago. |
