The odd hope given by Mr. Barak Obama," One Nation, One People", has transcended many parts of the world, particularly in Africa, which long believed that the American Government Administration has been a bad partner in the management of the world. This is because American Foreign policy has been registered and understood for long as a "catch 22" thing. It is saying something to day and doing the opposite tomorrow.

Governments in the Horn do not view terrorism as a direct threat to their security but rather as a means to an end. This view can be strongly supported if we make a closer look the analysis of the “Patterns of Global Terrorism” report between 1997 and 2002.  According to this report, Africa ranked fifth in the total international terrorist attacks by region after Latin America, Asia, Western Europe, and the Middle East. Africa’s casualties for that same period are comparatively insignificant and therefore terrorism could not be viewed as a major security threat.

Ethiopia, with its different geological formations and climatic conditions, is endowed with considerable water resources and wetland ecosystems, including twelve river basins, about 14 major lakes, and some man made reservoirs. About 123 billion cubic meters of water runs off annually from the above sources. Most of them are trans-boundary rivers. The country is also known for its ground water resource, but the potential has not been assessed in detail.

Kurt Behnke is an expert at Airline Capital Leasing based in Miami, Florida. Mr Kurt came to Ethiopia to facilitate the sale of a Boeing 767 to Aerosur, based in Santa Cruz, Bolivia. Kurt came in September to do a physical check of the airplane and to make sure that it met current aircraft standards. Jonathan Galinsky of The Reporter  had a brief moment with Kurt and spoke to him about his work in Ethiopia.
